Okatakyie Sir Charles Ofori Kuragu was a distinguished leader, entrepreneur, devoted family man, and faithful servant of God whose life was defined by excellence, integrity, and service to humanity. His legacy continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born to the late Mr. Daniel Akwasi Ofori Kuragu and Madam Ama Kwaah, Sir Charles was the fourth of twelve children. From an early age, he exhibited remarkable intelligence, a calm disposition, and a natural gift for leadership. His educational journey began at Tetrem Secondary School, where he completed his secondary education in 1983, and continued at Opoku Ware Secondary School (OWASS), where he completed his sixth-form studies in 1985. He later gained admission to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Planning in 1990, a discipline that perfectly suited his analytical mind and passion for structured development.

While at KNUST, Sir Charles met the love of his life, Nana Konadu. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married in 1994. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children: Aaron, Audrey, Charles Jr., and Benjamin. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a dependable pillar of support to both his immediate and extended family.

Following his studies, Sir Charles relocated to London and later to the United States, where his pursuit of knowledge and professional growth continued. He earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from DePaul University in Chicago, laying a strong foundation for a highly successful career in finance and business management.

After completing his MBA, he joined AT&T as a Regional Financial and Budget Analyst. His exceptional performance and leadership abilities quickly earned him promotion, and within two years, he rose to the position of Business Operations Manager, overseeing operations across multiple states. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he later partnered with a colleague to establish new ventures and served as Vice President of Symtek Telecom Inc., where he supervised finance and business operations for two years. This role marked the beginning of a distinguished business career characterized by innovation, strategic thinking, and excellence.

In 2003, motivated by a desire to contribute to the development of his homeland, Sir Charles returned to Ghana and joined the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, an advanced information technology institute, as its first Director of Finance and Administration. During the institution's formative years, he also served in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer until a substantive CEO was appointed. His leadership, financial stewardship, and administrative structures played a pivotal role in establishing the stability and growth of the Centre. After successfully helping to lay a solid foundation for the institution, he returned to the United States to continue his private business endeavors.

A visionary entrepreneur, Sir Charles co-owned ICON360 Company Limited, a telecommunications solutions provider in Ghana, and Build2Last Company Limited, a construction company, alongside his friend and business partner, Opanin Kwaku Oware Baning. Both companies operated successfully and contributed meaningfully to their respective industries. His passion for education also led him to partner with his wife to co-own and manage St. Georges International School in Kumasi. Through their dedication and leadership, the school experienced significant growth in enrollment and regained its reputation as one of the leading schools in the city.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sir Charles was a man of deep faith and unwavering commitment to the work of God. In 1997, he joined Christ's Oasis Ministries, where he became a dedicated and influential member of the church. He faithfully served as the church's Financial Secretary until his untimely passing. His contributions were instrumental in the acquisition, development, and consolidation of the ministry's assets, most notably the construction of the Oasis House of Dominion (HOD). Today, the House of Dominion stands as a lasting testament to his vision, leadership, and devotion to advancing God's kingdom. Church members fondly remember his warm handshake, welcoming smile, and genuine interest in the academic, professional, and spiritual growth of others.

His gift for leadership extended beyond the church and business community. As a proud Okatakyie, he served as President of the Akatakyie Association in Chicago, where he led with distinction. Under his stewardship, the association experienced remarkable growth and strengthened its impact within the Ghanaian community. Sir Charles was widely respected for his wisdom, humility, and ability to unite people.

A natural peacemaker, he approached difficult situations with fairness, patience, and discernment. Many sought his counsel because of his rare ability to bring clarity where there was confusion and harmony where there was conflict. His business acumen, coupled with his willingness to mentor and advise others, made him a trusted source of guidance for countless individuals. Throughout his life, Sir Charles exemplified service, leadership, integrity, and compassion. Whether as a husband and father, business executive, entrepreneur, church leader, mentor, or community advocate, he touched lives in profound and lasting ways.

Okatakyie Sir Charles Ofori Kuragu leaves behind a legacy of excellence, humility, faith, and love. His life was a testament to purposeful living and selfless service. Though deeply missed, his influence lives on in the countless lives he touched, the institutions he helped build, and the family, friends, and community he so faithfully served. His memory will forever remain a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
